Ultra Music Festival & Back..

The experience at Ultra Music Festival was well to say the least, EXCITING, CRAZY and frustrating at times. Arriving on Thursday in the Miami area. I made my way to the hotel in Hollywood on the beach. From there jumped on 95 south to the park where Ultra was being held. It’s interesting trying to explain who you are and what your doing there and why you need to be let in with no documents to back you up. Also explaining this to someone who really could care less doesn’t make it any easier. One quick call and it was all good.

Where to Setup?
This was interesting in itself. There was a great spot on a large tent, but I would have had to be right in the middle a a huge walking area on a scissor lift. I drove around with my setup lit and projecting from the roof of the Hummer. I found a great location right on the front of the Carl Cox tent. The display was a huge success! I’ll post up pics and video shortly.

ULW is already booked for next years Ultra XII!

Urban Light Works at SHO Children’s Event

I’m glad to announce that ULW has been invited to be one of the featured artists at their first art show for kids. This is a cool event as it raises funds for kids and continues them in art.

—————-

That stands as the mission statement for the SHO (Simply Helping Others) Foundation, a newly formed non-profit organization based in Winter Park, FL. The organization’s founders and newly formed Board of Directors have joined forces to shed a more positive light on the lives of middle school aged children whose creative environments and skill sets, regardless of today’s economy, have remained non existent and untapped.

“We want to show kids that the creative arts is a form of inspiration, it is a way for them to let loose of their imaginations and just be who they want to be without anything holding them back,” says Rainer Flor the SHO Foundation’s President and Founder.

On Friday, April 10, 2009 the SHO Foundation will be holding its first “Art SHO”, a fundraising event that will be held at Brook Pifer’s Rockstar Studios inside The Lofts of Winter Park (520 North Orlando Ave, Penthouse #1) from 7PM – 11PM. The event will highlight several local artists and musicians who have partnered with the SHO Foundation to celebrate the evening.

ULW and Van Gogh at MOSI

ULW has been invited to display at The Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa for the opening of their new Van Gogh IMAX movie. MOSI is excited to have ULW display on an internal wall for a 2 night event. Every new event gives us the ability to test out our display capabilities in new and exciting environments. Each setup is different in the aspects of scale, lighting and technology capability.

This is going to be a great event. If you happen to be near MOSI in Tampa this Thursday or Friday. Feel free to stop in and see what up.

Ultra Music Festival

Ultra Music Festival is a 2 day dance festival with 50,000 people; featuring world renowned DJ’s, Bands, Electronic Musicians and Visual Artists. All of this takes place at Bicentennial Park in Miami. Urban Light Works has been invited as the only visual artist that produces large interactive displays. ULW couldn’t be any more excited; to be invited to an event of this caliber after only existing for 4 short weeks.

If your going to the show, stop by and say hello and enjoy the show.
